Sink Your Teeth Into IN FLESH AND SPIRIT During Indy Comic Week!

Chronicling the ongoing saga of Baron Misuraca, vampire (b.1267 d.1305 b.2008) and his array of femme fatales, Overtone Comics proudly unleashes the undead Odyssey that is In Flesh and Spirit featuring artwork by Vampirella artist Alex Horley.

IN FLESH AND SPIRIT returns the spirit of seventies greats such as Gonzalez and Ploog, and offers something not easily found today; integrity in art and story. I cannot recommend it more highly.
Kevin Noel Olson – COMICS! Haven Distributors Catalog

All in all, “In Flesh and Spirit” is excellent at being a classical horror comic with everything a comic like this needs: Monologues, extensive narrative, black and white art and lots of half naked women.
Dominik B. – The Independent Comic Site

Gothic sensibility, Vampires, the undead, and rock and roll...what more can you ask for!
Bone Digger – Horror News

This book has GREAT promise so far, and I can’t wait to see where this title goes!
Keith Huening – Horror Comics Review

I heartily recommend In Flesh and Spirit to any horror fan whose taste runs to red...
Wm. Eric "The NeuroZombie" Downton –ShriekFreak Quarterly

Written and published for fans of horror cinema and dark music, In Flesh and Spirit weds the NYC goth-metal scene to classic Hammer horror flicks and 70’s publications like Vampirella.
Dave Wolff – Good Times Magazine

ICBW: Flickr Group!

We created a Flickr Group for Indy Comic Book Week! Please join up and post pictures/videos from your local event there; we'd love to see how it turned out for everyone.

Omnitarium Subscription Competition!

With the year coming to an end, issue two coming towards completion, and in celebration of Indy Comic Book Week, I've decided to offer a complete run of Omnitarium up as a prize. That's right, all issues, 1-4 will be sent to the lucky winner as and when they are printed.

In order to be entered for a chance to win the prize all you have to do is either:

Post the following message on your Twitter page (copy and paste minus quotes - or just retweet):

"For a chance to win a full run of @jamiegambell's Omnitarium - http://tinyurl.com/ycvuf8b - see here - http://tinyurl.com/ye8ehb9 #omsubcomp"

Or, if you aren't a Tweeter, then you can post this message on your blog and then post a link to that posting in the comments section.

Also, as a bonus, if you already have issue #1 of the book, then if you post a picture of you with the book and you win the draw, you can nominate a friend to receive the full run of the book also - that is, they will get issues 1-4, you will get 2-4.

Good luck!

Competition closes on Saturday, 3rd at Midnight, winner will be announced on Sunday, 4th January, 2010

It's been a wild ride watching the activity on it; ICBW has been a real grassroots movement thanks to Twitter (tweetroot? grasstweet?). So keep it saved on your mobile devices, we expect you guys to blow it up this Wednesday December 30th with tweets and pics of your local ICBW event!

ICBW Gives Props to The East

The ICBW Team would like to give a shoutout to our comrades in comics over at Comiket in Tokyo, Japan tomorrow. Comiket is the largest dōjinshi convention in the world with over 500,000 attendees and a phone book of exhibitors. Dōjinshis are Japanese self-published works that usually refer to comics and novels. This year's even at Tokyo Big Sight is being held December 29-31. It's going to be a huge indy movement on both side of the Pacific. The ICBW Team believes that comics are universal no matter the language and region. So let's show them some love on their Twitter @comiket and #comiket!

So that everyone knows what to look for, Here's the cover my Indy Comic Book Week offering, "What Planet Is This":

It's a 20 page full color comic about a Space-detective who is kindof a total jerk. It's a sci-fi crime-noir comedy. You can see samples of the first few pages by clicking here.

Bamn Preview Pages

“Kick Out. Kick Ass.”

In the tradition of Bad News Bears, Karate Kid, and The Mighty Ducks comes Bamn!

The title character Bamn is a former World War Wrestling superstar who was unceremoniously booted out of the federation. The story picks up a few years later after his fall from grace. Disenfranchised, drunk, and living in his car, he stumbles across Art and Ian, a pair of wide-eyed twelfth graders who seem to be the only fans he has left in the world. Art and Ian invite our reluctant hero to their clumsy little backyard wrestling fed. There he meets a group of teenage misfits whose deficiencies in wrestling technique are just as noticeable as their passion for pro wrestling. While there, he soon discovers that the local high school wrestling team has been bullying them for years. Just in time for their final months before graduation, Bamn takes it upon himself to mentor the motley crew of wannabees on the finer points of pro-wrestling and self-defense. In the process, the kinship that develops between Bamn and the kids reminds Bamn what it really takes to be a champion.

Just in time for ICBW, Bamn #2 will be making its’ comic shop debut at the following stores in the state of Maryland on December 30th 2009:

JackRabbit

Hey, Check out the new book by Committed Comics!

committedcomics.com/

In a world gone mad, one hero, in a race against time… is really busy doing something else.

That leaves Jackrabbit to deal with the self-proclaimed menace of The Eight Fingers of Mischief.

Jackrabbit must run a gauntlet of hilarity to stop an octet of third-rate super villains from achieving their diabolical goal to cause some degree of discomfort and disruption to the world at large.

You can find this title in a variety of stores in the U.S.

These are some of them:

Thanks for reading and thanks Indie Comic Week.

Man Fighting Street

This is my book, Man Fighting Street. Thanks for reading and thanks to Indie Comic Week. You'll find issue 1 and 2 available.

The story takes place in the city of Sunny Hills, a city devoid of both sun and hills. It's a city wrought with crime, corruption, gang warfare, an economic recession, and litter. Money is tight and everyone is doing what they need to, to survive.

This is the story of Drystan Striker and his girlfriend, Liza Lambert; two down and out bad asses. The two wake up one morning to find that the rent is passed due and bills are piling up. Worst of all, there is no food in the entire apartment. Drystan must leave on a quest for his local grocery store and brave the dangers of BLOODY HILLS: corrupt police, yakuza school girls, metro sexual fashion elitists, disgruntled garbage men, and angry landlords. Each group is out for respect and money.

This is the story of MFS. A city where all its inhabitants, no matter how frail, are always up for a good fight!

http://www.manfightingstreet.com/

You can find it at a few great shops in SoCal:

Silent Night, (It's not all) Blackest Night...

Hi All,

Quick note for some information on Omnitarium.

Due to a problem with shipping, I will not have the book until December 30th, which has put a delay on my shipping it to stores.

As it stands all stores are still honouring their orders, which is great, but it does mean that the book will probably not be in some places for Indy Comic Book Week's 30th date.

The stores that will hold it are as follows:

Midtown, NY
Titan, TX
Heroplex, TX
Brainstorm, IL
Zaldiva, FL
Spazdog, AZ
Source Comics, MN
Zeus Comics, TX
Pulp Nouveau, NY

Also, not confirmed, but probable -

Comics Smash
Universal Comics
Earth 2
House of Secrets
(All CA)

I'd like to thank all the stores for understanding and helping with the delay, and for showing support to the book beyond the ICBW drive.

Best of luck to all involved in this - it's been amazing to be part of, and I hope and wish us all success in this endevour - it's not all about "Blackest Sieges"!

Jamie Gambell

Happy Holidays from the ICBW Team!

Invisible Sam, The Unremarkable Man @ ICBW

Invisible Sam, my new book finished just in time for ICBW, is about an older, "unremarkable" man. It's B&W, 24 pages, and priced cheaply at $2.00 a pop.

I'm super-excited to announce that Invisible Sam will be on sale at over 40 stores in a total of 20 states! It will be available at many of the shops already listed on this blog, as well as these other fine funnybook stores:
We're sending the books to the stores for free (and we're giving each and every store a plug in the back of the book itself!) as a way of saying Thank You.

Bamn #2 @ Indy Comic Book Week

For the uninitiated, Indy Comic Book Week is not the day that Harrison Ford tells dead baby jokes --- no, Indy Comic Book Week is the last week of December (12/30/09), in which, independent comic book creators around the known universe receive an opportunity to pimp their illustrated works to your local comic shop (in some cases for the first time).

Get on board, learn something new, support your local hipster, and give back to the only printed media not on its’ deathbed: http://www.indycomicbookweek.com/

All kidding aside, ICBW is a great opportunity to take advantage of what the comic industry has to offer besides the usual superhero stuff. Not to mention the fact that Bamn #2 will finally be making its’ comic shop debut at, both, Third Eye Comics and Alliance Comics and Games on December 30th 2009. If you’re in DC, Maryland, or Virginia, be sure to grab a copy.

THE NITTY GRITTY:

Indy Comic Week is December 30th, 2009 at Third Eye Comics, Alliance Comics and Games, as well as, these comic book specialty shops.

Be sure to snag these titles from The Bamn Crew on this exciting day (and if your retailer doesn’t carry them…ASK FOR THEM!):

"So Buttons" Joins Indy Comic Week

Inspired by the works of Harvey Pekar—with whom he has been compared—Jonathan Baylis’s So Buttons #2 features six autobiographical stories, wry observations on marriage, Vietnam, Republicans, Forrest J. Ackerman and John Lennon.

The book’s opener, “So… She Married Me Anyway,” relates the moments leading up to the author’s intended elopement, and is a perfect example of Baylis’s prowess as a storyteller, deftly handling the layers of emotions that accompany such an auspicious event with his signature economy and restraint.

In the collection’s tour de force “So… I’m Standing on the Deck of the USS Intrepid,” Baylis revisits the historic battleship with his uncle, who served on the ship during Vietnam.

Four additional tales round out the collection.

With a cover by T.J. Kirsch (Uncle Slam Fights Back by Oni Press), So Buttons #2 features color and black-and-white interior art by Kirsch, David Beyer Jr. (Tales of the Starlight Drive-In by Image Comics), and award-winning illustrator Tim Ogline.

For more information, visit http://www.sobuttons.com.

“Baylis’ observations and anecdotes are AMUSING AND REVEALING… Smartly paced… Reminiscent of Harvey Pekar’s work

—Sequart.com

“Don’t let Baylis fool you. Yes, his comics are funny, but I read them for the quiet, human moments that will stick with you long after you’ve finished reading.”

— Nick Bertozzi, “The Salon”

Now Eve has crossed a line and and innocents have been harmed. This hasn't gone unnoticed by a well meaning cabal of occultist that's mandate is to police the occult world. What will happen when these two forces clash? Is there ever a "winner" in the supernatural underworld of Dusk?"
